The support bearings are always needed for fixing of the ballscrews on its axis and the free screw rotation around its axis. The supports for ballscrews are classified by ballscrew mounting - horizontal (support types - BK, BF), vertical (support types - FK, FF).
The support bearings for ballscrews. For horizontal ballscrew mounting - BK, BF series are used, and for vertical ballscrew mounting - FK, FF series are used.
The supports of BK and BF types are used for horizontal ballscrew mounting. The support bearings of BK type have an angular contact bearing, and they are used for the rigid fixation of one ballscrew end on the motor side, this support type is called a fixed. The support bearings of BF type have a radial bearing, which can move in a saddle of the housing along the ballscrew axis, this type of support is called free or floating. The property of bearing movement parallel to the axis of the free support BF is necessary for compensation of the screw length changes while it's operating. The changing of screw length during the operations under the load arises due to thermal expansion of the metal, and the screw elastic deformation along the axis of its rotation. Below you can view and download the catalog of dimensions and characteristics of the fixed and free support bearings for ballscrews.

The supports of FK and FF types are used for vertical ballscrew mounting. The support bearings of FK type are fixed supports that can be used for fixation of the one ballscrew end on the motor side. Free support bearings of FF type have a radial bearing, which can move in a saddle of the housing along the ballscrew axis. The property of bearing movement parallel to the axis of the free support FF is necessary for compensation of the screw length changes while it's operating under the load. During the normal operations under the load ballscrew undergoes the elastic deformation and thermal reversible deformation.
